hard to use

The dial is hard to turn. It's a square based iron. The base doesn't heat up evenly, leaving some spots melting the wax, and others not doing anything.
It will get the job done, but with more work than a more expensive iron.
I would rather just use a clothes iron dedicated to waxing.

Good, affordable option for XC Skis

I know it's a snowboarding brand, but I ordered this iron to wax my cross-country skis. It has some issues with temperature variability, but never to the point where I would worry about it ruining my skis. In fact, I've had good luck adjusting it for different kinds of wax.
If you're a cross-country skier on a budget, go for it. It's way better than using some old clothes iron.
