A Warm Surprise

For some strange reason technology regarding face warmers passed me by. As I was getting ready for Christmas, I did an Amazon search for 'face warmers', thinking I would get one of those knit caps we used to have as children, you know the ones that always ended up soaked with fluid from your cold nose and mouth? The search took me to the next generation of face protectors, those made out of Neoprene. They were cheap enough that I bought some for the whole family. My thought was they would probably be alright for cool days, but since they were so cheap, they wouldn't hold up for the harsher Northern Illinois/Wisconsin winters. The designs available were amazing, from plain black to cool abstract designs.
On Christmas morning everyone was pleased with the items because they looked so cool. However, when they wore them outside, the real surprise happened! These things WORK. They actually keep your face warm. Now, it was 15 degrees, which is warm for winter up here, but there was no indication that these things could not handle lower temps. Not only do they work, they are extremely light and comfortable. My wife is a bit claustrophobic, yet the mask did not bother her at all. The eye holes even allow you to wear glasses! The covered mouth piece has enough holes to make breathing easy, but does not expose you to the cold. I can only say that I am now happy to 'discover' these items, and I will be extolling their virtues to all other Winter Workers!
